The core collections are split into year bands and there is also a core collection of information titles that covers either foundation/KS1, or KS2. ​

The Core Book List - A History!

The Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE) is an independent U.K. charity that promotes the effective teaching of children's literacy. 

The CLPE's Core Book List, which was first published in 1977, is a great way for teachers to develop and enhance class libraries and book collections in schools. Titles are chosen because they support children learning to read and in their development as readers. 

Books are tried and tested in classrooms and successfully provide children with memorable and positive reading experiences. ​
